A tiny, strategically located Ukrainian island in the Black Sea became famous after 13 Ukrainian border guards refused to surrender to Russian navy. Their response to a warning from an approaching Russian vessel to lay down their weapons or face bombing was, “Russian warship, go f*** yourself.”

That was the first day of the invasion, February 24, 2022. Since then, the border guards’ response has become a rallying cry for Ukrainian resistance.

Digital billboards, DOOH screens and road signs in Ukraine are displaying it along with other messages addressed to Russian troops. (Sources: Wall Street Journal, AP News, Sky, CTV News, Jerusalem Post, reddit, Twitter)

Almost immediately after the start of the invasion, DOOH operators all over the world started displaying messages in support of Ukraine.
