Shipping Analysis Shows Absen, Unilumin Tops In DV LED Manufacturing Exports

Market data on the DV LED industry can be a little hard to find at times, unless you are a manufacturer that has the budget for research reports that tend to have price tags that include a few zeroes. So I was happy to see the CEO for the Brazil wing of the Chinese LED manufacturer Unilumin post LED shipment numbers on Linkedin that suggest his parent company moves the most DV LED on the planet. […]

16:9: Omdia Research: Public Information Display Shipments Were Down Almost 10% In 2020

COVID-19 was bad for just about every industry, so it is no surprise that the digital signage display business had a rough 2020. New numbers from the research firm Omdia suggests overall 2020 public information display shipments were down 9.8% year-on-year. But, a little surprisingly, Latin America, Japan, and the China region actually saw some growth opportunities. […]

Future DSE Survey: Early Results And Call For A Few More Responses

I just need a few more responses to that survey pushed out earlier in the week, asking about whether the industry needs a standalone replacement for the DSE trade show, or if the big pro AV trade shows suffice. I have 133 responses as I type this, and an online calculator I used suggested based on an industry of 12,000 people (semi-educated guess), I’d need 142 to have a valid sample. […]

16:9: Survey (So Far): Industry Split Pretty Evenly On Merits And Needs Of Full DSE Reboot

The response has been solid and intriguing to the survey I pushed out yesterday asking about whether the industry needs a replacement for Digital Signage Expo, or if shows like ISE and InfoComm address the needs. As of this morning, 78 industry people have put in their views. I’d like to get to 100 or so, because that seems like a decent sample. […]

16:9: LCD Panel Prices Up 27% In Last Quarter 2020; Expected To Go Up Another 12% In Q1 2021

It may seem odd in the face of stalled economies and stalled AV projects, but the costs of LCD display products are on the rise, according to a report from Digital Supply Chain Consulting, or DSCC. Demand for LCD products remains strong , says DSCC, at the same time as shortages are deepening for glass substrates and driver integrated circuits. […]
